Paediatric Ophthalmology

Children are not little adults and pediatric eye diseases and management differ vastly from adults. In the critical age group of 0-6 years old, any eye problem can affect the development of a child’s vision. The most effective way to prevent eye diseases in children is to conduct an early examination, early detection, and early treatment. The most effective way to prevent eye diseases in children is to conduct an early examination, early detection, and early treatment. It is recommended that children with a family history of eye diseases should be examined for about 3 months. Some special conditions need a detailed eye examination even earlier- such as low-birthweight and premature babies. Children without a family history of eye disease should undergo a comprehensive eye examination including assessment of visual function and eye development before 2 years of age.
